  I guess maybe the training is different from east coast to West coast for Trader Joe's....
  Back in Pa, the Trader Joe's I went to, EVERYONE was polite, they greeted you if you came close to them while on shopping floor, the managers (or captains as they are called in their Hawaiian print shirts) would greet as well, and were pleasent.
  Here at this Trader Joe's in Chino Hills (having just moved to Ca)... I was glared at by a manager/captain, who then greeted 5 other customers after walking past me, but felt no need to be friendly to me. Then I get to register, and cashier (who has been having conversations and being polite with 2 customers ahead of me) only talks to me to tell me my total, doesn't offer a bag, then just hands me my receipt and starts greeting and talking to next customer, while I fumble with my items.
  I guess you have to be a regular customer to get treated politely at this Trader Joe's.... but I won't be returning Thankfully there is a Sprouts very close by, they will get my patronage.

  My go-to Trader Joe's. This is my favorite location. It's always fully stocked and clean. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The layout is very simple so you can find everything quickly.
